Walking Among The Clouds

When my father left us in 2007, I thought, I'm alone now. Dad is gone. But, then I turned on your music and while tears flowed for my father, I found the music to have a healing quality.
Dad was always fixing things around the house, or buying things on sale even if we didn't need them because he knew they would be used later on, even if months from the time of purchase. He worked as a car salesman for 39 years, but never once lied to a customer to make a sale.
I recall one time where a man and his wife, in their 70's came in to buy a car. They decided on a used Chevy Beretta. Knowing about a few of the major problems with the used car they wanted, he was able to work out a deal to get them a new one for less than the sticker value, ultimately saving them more on repair consts down the road.
It was Dad who introduced me to your songs through THE JAZZ SINGER, and the 8-track cartridge of the soundtrack , one of several 8-tracks playing in the car when we went out west for three weeks in 1982 was a blast to listen to, and for me still is. I own the CD and have had to buy a second, having worn the first one out, believe it or not.
Since his death 20 months ago, I have been helped along in the healing process by your songs both old and new. PRETTY AMAZING GRACE has been the song I am finding more of an identifying quality with as far as Dad is concerned. Dad showed amazing grace fighting his cancer, and still manageed to work, provide for his family, and enjoy all the things he always had, until the end came and he was much weaker.
The release of HOME BEFORE DARK has had a carthartic impact on my life and healing in the months since its release. PRETTY AMAZING GRACE is a beautiful testament to love and friendship between anyone man or woman. And, it resonates deep within me every time I listen to it.
Thank you for writing music that moves, touches, and inspires. Your recent concert in Tampa was awesome and I sensed my father there with me. Although, looking back, I don't think the lady sitting next to me realized Dad was sitting on her lap for the slower songs and standing with us for the upbeat rockers.
Congratulations on your recent nomination as MusicCares 2009 Recipient of the Year. I would love to attend, but this economy has killed me financially. I will donate what I can though to the organization.
In closing I hope your album, HOME BEFORE DARK wins Record of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards. You deserve it!
