I just saw the story on CBS news about what you did to help the people who suffered such a terrible loss during Hurricane Ike. May God Bless You. I sat here and cried when I saw the news story, you see it really hits me in my heart because I have walked in their shoes-once in 1965 when Hurricane Betsy hit Louisiana and my entire family had 8 feet of water in our homes and again in August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and we had 13 feet of water. I now live in Texas, 2 of my 4 grandchildren live here and God has provided for us for which I am very grateful and I am blessed - the saddest part is not that we lost everything (including family photos) but that our family and friends now live all over the United States and I miss the life we had in our little community of St. Bernard Parish in Chalmette, Louisiana. I couldn't write to you and not mention how BIG of a Neil Diamond fan my sweet aunt was of you. She would listen to your music every night to help her fall asleep and every concert that you performed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana we went. She was a very religious lady and a single lady. When she passed away in December, 2004 I wrote her eugology and I started it by saying that my Aunt Carol had 2 men in her life-first and foremost GOD and of course Neil Diamond. I have to tell you that everyone in the church understood because she loved you so. Neil what you did for those people in Texas is the most heartwarming, wonderful, all-giving gift and I just know that your Mom raised you right and that you are a wonderful person with a big heart. May God Bless You ALL the days of your life.
