The concert in Columbus was my first concert I've been able to attend because my husband had been ill for so many years but I thought the concert very great. Neil is one of the best entertainers in the world and I was thrilled to finally get the chance. I was not disappointed at all. It seemed to me, everyone had a great time singing and clapping along with all the songs.
A Great Artist

Neil's show was inspirational to me! I could hear that he had a bit of laryngitis, but he didn't let that stop him from putting on a stellar performance. And from the response at the arena, I would say that 99.8% of the people agreed that his showmanship was superb...the applause was deafening...he even did an encore of "Sweet Caroline" immediately after finishing the song by popular demand. His rockier songs seemed to be easier for him vocally. "Forever in Blue Jeans" was super. "Pretty Amazing Grace"...a new song was very nice too. The 'final four' songs Neil did reached right down inside me and touched my very soul. I've been a fan since I bought the 45rpm single of "Cherry Cherry" as a teenager (when it was first issued). I'm still a fan... "Home Before Dark" is a mangificent CD. I was pleased that he used it as pre-curtain music.
I will absolutely buy a ticket for the next time as soon as they go on sale (just like I did for this one). Neil is an enormous talent and a truly caring artist.

The negatives? YES - Neil Diamond's voice was raspy Monday night...laryngitis does that to one's voice. YES - Neil Diamond was not at 100% Monday night. Should he have given up and either cancelled the show or postponed it until he was better? Maybe! Did he? NO!
The positives? Instead of giving up, he gave his fans in Columbus, Ohio, a show from the heart. He felt his songs as did the audience. I had a great view of the entire arena from where I was sitting. Neil energized that audience...EVERYONE was clapping and dancing and singing! I don't think anyone on the floor sat for any lengthy period of time.
His encore, in which he sang one of his signatures, "Coming To America" was just an exclamation point to a very good evening! Should he have apologized or said something to his audience about his voice? Probably...but hindsight is always 20-20. We don't always give 100% all the time, every time on our jobs...yet, we don't bother to give our pay back to our employers. Who are we to judge? I believe the greatest Judge to ever walk on the Earth once said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..."
Because of the voice quality Monday night, and I know that Neil Diamond is actually more known for his proficient song writing than anything else, I am giving the show 4 stars out of 5.
Thanks for reading...

I just want to say thank you to Mr. Diamond for coming through with the refund for Columbus. You are a wonderful singer/songwriter that just had a rough night with your voice. You have come through for us and we hope to see you back in Columbus soon. Get well soon

I have loved Neil & his music for decades. Unfortunately, this was first I've gotten to see him in concert. You could tell he was really struggling to sing....please tell me he's going to come back and give his Columbus fans a real show! For $120 (plus fees) a ticket I anticipated a first-class vocal performance from the legend, not recitation (or complete silence while the back-up singers took over). Postponing the show would have been infinitely better. I do pray his voice returns soon!!!

This was the first time I would see Neil and I went with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked how badly he sounded. I knew something had to be wrong. He should have canceled or at least told the audience what was wrong. What a disappointment.
Disappointing

I wish I could write a good review but I'm afraid I can't. If I had to sum up Neil's performance in Columbus last night with one word it would be "disappointment". Neil clearly was having vocal problems and should have never taken the stage. If he has one ounce of care for his fans he would refund their money. I have seen Neil perform 4 times previously and have always been pleased, however I'm afraid last night might have been my last. $500 in tickets is to much money to spend on a concert for a performer who had to speak half his words!!
