My name is Hilda. I was born in Brooklyn,NY. Lived in same area Neil's parents lived at. My parents owned a store on Montieth St. and were friends with the Diamonds who owned various stores.My mother died when she was 27yrs.old of cancer. I was 2yrs old. We lived next to the Rheingold Beer Factory and when my mother passed away Pop told me that the Mr.and Mrs. Diamond helped him with anything he needed.We moved to Coney Island area and Pop brought a Brownstone in Bay Ridge. I remember on hot summer days we would turn on the Johnny Pumps to get cooled off..We played double dutch or stick ball.The new unknown groups would sing on corners and in the Hallways made us kids feel so so good. There was so much talent all around us. And Neil the Gem the DIAMOND was Sparkling!His mother would say come listen to Neil he's on the radio!!She was so overjoyed and we were too.Those days are more precious then Gold.So I just started my own forum!And would love for you to join It's called Song Sung Blue Club.
