Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, I was introduced to Neil's music when my elder brother arrived home with his newly aquired "Hot August Night" album. I can still remember my Dad's reaction at seeing the cover of the album... obviously thinking Neil was some kind of heavy metal rocker, he said to my brother "What kind of rubbish have you bought now?"
Of course, it ended up being my Dad who played the album more often and louder than anyone else in the family! And I think that epitomises Neil's ability to transcend generations with his music.

The first live outdoor concert I attended was at Western Springs stadium, where Neil, on his first tour to New Zealand, set new attendance records for the venue. What Neil did there musically and artistically will live in my memory forever.

In the early '80s, I built a yacht, and sailing took over my life. The words of the song "Memphis Flyer" were so fitting to the sense of freedom and adventure that sailing affords, that it was an obvious choice of name for my yacht.

Yes, I have been a Diamond fan for a long time and plan to be for a long while yet! Neil Diamond's greatest gift to us all... his music and his ability to reach out and touch our souls with it.
